In the Beginning Java Started it all and a most special friend!
We have other cockatiels with the same coloring who are just as friendly.
Amazon Joe is our rescue. He has a
quarantine band on his leg which indicates that he was wild
caught, went through one of the United States Quarantine stations, and is at
least 16 years old.
Joe loves my popsicles--not the orange ones, just the red ones. He also likes my
bread, Mac and
cheese and anything else that he can snag off my plate. Joe has a different
sound for each
member of the family. Denny gets a woo-woo because Joe associates the little toy
fire engine
with Denny. My husband was successful in changing Joe's screams to little
woo-woos with this
toy. My teenage son, John gets a "what's up" and I get a whistle or a " JOHN"
because I made
the mistake of raising my voice beside the bird....you get the picture.
Baby Red Suns. We were so pleased
with the color and personalities of this clutch of Sun
Conures that we kept them for future parents. Give them a few years and you'll
see gorgeous
Reds and oranges as well as personality plus.
Dominant Yellowcheek Pearl. Very
Large birds with great Pearling. These babies are fun loving
and curious. They are real show stoppers.
Lura and Shy are White Bellied
Caiques. These two are females and will be paired with Harvey
and Jasper for future unrelated offspring. We have several pairs and each one is
a delight.
Caiques are curious and bold. They love people and will step up and be friends
with many
people. We take ours to Fairs and local events where they are handled by many
people. Our
Caiques are talkers! Learning quickly, I'm surprised regularly at the
repertoire. Some of them
meow, some say I love you, one likes to mimic the cell phone beep and still
another one whistles
and asks, "How are you?" They are all less than a year old! They are the BEST at
learning tricks
and love to show off.
Dominant Yellowcheek Fallow.
Sweet, calm and quiet. All the babies from our fallows are very
special. Occasionally we get one of these DYC Fallows, about one or two a year.
We are very
responsible in our breeding program and breed for quality. These are priced very
reasonably at
$200. Their grey siblings split pied and fallow can be purchased for $100.
English Budgies are one of my
favorites. This is Fuzzy a female Dark Eyed Clear given by a
breeder friend, Sam, who knows I love white birds. Fuzzy is my special pet and
sits by my
computer everyday to keep me company.
More Dominant Yellowcheeks
Lovie bird. Another gift from a
friend, this little beauty is a sweet little charmer. She enjoys
playing with her toys and doing tricks to get my attention. Babies like her will
be available in the
future.
This is Piper, our Black Headed
Caique female. Although she was purchased as a breeder, she is
becoming more and more of a pet. She rules around here second only to Jade, our
White bellied
Caique female. Piper is lots of fun to watch and likes to do chin ups on her
manzanitas perch.
Here is another pair of our Red Suns. This pair is Abner and Daisy Mae and are working the box...and working....and working. We expect eggs any day now.
Harvey the White Bellied Caique,
an amazing bird. Active and intelligent, you won't find a
better friend. Harvey says many things and is less than a year old. A few of his
sayings are: I'm
expensive, How are you, I love you, and new things every day. You have to listen
closely
because Caiques don't scream, they talk. His soft voice is soothing and calming.
Harvey loves to
do tricks. When you ask him questions, he will vigorously nod yes. He's
beginning to shake
himself to indicate no--but he learned that one on his own. He will "take a
break" rolling over
laying on his back and do his exercises by hop, hop, hopping up and down on the
floor. This is a
normal action for most Caiques but Harvey is the only one who will do so when
asked. Harvey
has decided that he likes to drink from a cup so has torn apart his bell toy,
removed the striker
from inside, turned the bell upside down and dips it in his water dish. He will
then drink from it
like a glass. He does this with every bell he is given. He is amazing.
We also raise Parrotlets. We have
Blue and Green split to Blue. These are my husband's
favorites because they are quiet and friendly. He will come home from working
all night, pick up
his little blue Buddy and pet, pet, pet his little friend. Quite soon, you will
see all the stress just
fade away. Very therapeutic birds, their tiny and melodious voices are ideal for
apartments or
nursing homes.
White face and yellowface split
Fallow split pied. These are siblings to our DYC Fallow and sell
for $100. Like their Whiteface Fallow Pied dad, these are talkers! Many are
talking by 6 months
old with personality to match. Mom is the DYC Pearl split fallow and takes very
good care of
each clutch. We've had 4 clutches from these birds and each baby is a real gem.
These babies all
turn out calm-almost serene-they communicate instead of screaming. They love
their people and
run to the side of the cage to greet them. Very special companions.
